Khartoum, Sep. 24 (EUNA) – The President of the Transitional Sovereignty COUNCIL, Gen. Abdul-Fattah Al-Burhan, Saturday evening returned home after his participation in the 77th w3wwion of the United Nations General Assembly in New York and his short visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt.
He was received upon return at Khartoum Airport by the Vice – President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo.
The Director of the Political Department of the Sovereignty Council and member of the delegation accompanying the President of the Council, Ambassador Omar Siddiq, said in a press statement at Khartoum Airport that the participation of the President of the Sovereignty Council in the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly included, in addition to Sudan’s speech to the Assembly on Thursday in which he discussed a number of internal, regional and global issues, holding meetings on the sidelines of the 77th session, with a number of heads of state and regional and international organizations.
He explained that the meetings included the President of the Republic of Senegal, President of the current session of the African Union, President Macky Sall, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, the President of Burundi and the President of the Republic of Gambia, noting that these meetings discussed the bilateral relations between Sudan and these countries, as well as regional and international issues of common concern.
Ambassador Siddiq said that Gen. Al-Burhan also met with the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, the Chairman of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki, and the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov.
He added that the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council He concluded his visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt, during which he held talks with Egyptian President, Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, which dealt with developments in relations between Khartoum and Cairo.
