Khartoum, Nov. 14 (SUNA) The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dafaallah Al-Haj Ali, received in his office today Mrs. Sarah Paul, the Deputy Regional Director of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for Arab States.
Ambassador Dafaallah expressed appreciation of the government and people of Sudan for the important role played by the (UNDP) in Sudan, and the good coordination and fruitful cooperation between Sudan and the program, which is one of the most important agencies of the United Nations.
He provided highlights on the developments of the political situation in the country, pointing to the efforts made to achieve national consensus, which leads to the formation of a civilian government to manage the transitional period until the elections stage.
He tackled a number of areas in which the UNDP can contribute through development projects in the areas of health, human development, food security and climate change.
On her part, Mrs. Sarah Paul praised the Sudan government’s cooperation with the program, stressing that the two sides are working as partners, indicating their keenness to support development projects during the transitional period at all economic and social levels, indicating most of them did not stop despite the challenges.
The Deputy Regional Director of the (UNDP) enlightened the scope of the work of the regional office of the program for the Arab countries, most notably peace, stability, democratization, strengthening the role of women, youth employment opportunities and building their capacities, and commended the good cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and national communication bodies.
It is worth noting that this high-level visit is the first of its kind, within the framework of developing the work of the (UNDP) in Sudan and its agreeing with the features of the coming stage.
