Khartoum, Nov. 17 (SUNA) - The Governance and Administration Sector of the Council of Ministers, in its meeting today headed by the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General  Yassin Ibrahim Yassin, approved the procedures for ratifying the protocols related to the amendment of Articles (50 A / 56) of the Chicago Civil Aviation Agreement 1994, which relate to the increase the members of the Council of the Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and increasing the number of members of the General Assembly of the organization's Air Navigation Authority.

The meeting also reviewed a report on the performance of the national human rights mechanism during the period from January to September 2022, presented by the Acting Minister of Justice, Maulana Mohammed Saeed Al-Hilu.

The report has specified the most important aspects of the progress made in the work of the National Human Rights Mechanism in the field of international law and international and regional agreements on human rights, including Sudan’s accession to the Convention Against Discrimination in Education, the Convention Against Torture, and the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance, as well as in the field of Sudan’s membership in the Human Rights Council, as Sudan assumed the position of Vice-President of the Council during the first half of the year 2021 on behalf of the African Group In addition to Sudan's active participation in international and regional human rights forums, the most important of which is participation in the meetings of the 49th and 50th sessions of the Human Rights Council.

The sector has recommended the removing of all the challenges facing the work of the national mechanism, due to the great role it plays in strengthening Sudan’s commitment to human rights, and the work for expediting the formation of the Commission for Human Rights, as well as the importance of clarifying the international community’s obligations towards Sudan with regard to human rights, praising the great efforts made by the Ministry of Justice in this regard.
