Port Sudan, Nov. 20 (SUNA) – American shipment of 47,893 tons of corn arrived at the northern port of Port Sudan today, within the framework of the USA humanitarian aid support to Sudan.

The shipment was received at the port by His Excellency the US Ambassador to Sudan, John T Godfrey, and his accompanying delegation from the World Lunch Program, in the presence of the Acting Director General of the Sea Ports Authority, Engineer Ibrahim Youssef.

Ambassador Godfrey expressed his country's over its assistance to the Sudanese people, referring to the developed relations between the two countries,

He and his accompanying delegation met with the Acting Director General of the Sea Ports Authority and his deputies at the Port Authority buildings in Port Sudan, heard to  a detailed explanation about the work of the Authority and its continuous efforts in technical development and bringing in modern mechanisms and equipment to improve handling and raise the efficiency of performance in cooperation with international companies specialized in the transportation industry.

The delegation was also enlightened on the role of the Sea Ports Authority in receiving food aid provided by the United Nations to African countries not bordering the sea.
