Khartoum, Dec. 1 (SUNA) - The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, met in his office in the Republican Palace today, the Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Demeke Mekonnen Hassen,, in the presence of the Acting Foreign Minister, Ambassador Ali Al-Sadiq.

Ambassador Meles Alem, the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Ethiopia, said in a press statement that the high- level Ethiopian delegation, in visit to Sudan these days, headed by the Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Demeke Mekonnen, participated in the ministerial meeting of the 48th IGAD foreign ministers, hosted by Khartoum during the past two days.

The Ethiopian delegation commended the good arrangement and preparation for the ministerial meeting, indicating that the meeting dealt with the peace agreement that was signed between the Ethiopian federal government and the Tigray Liberation Front, noting that the President of the TSC confirmed during the meeting that Sudan will provide support until the agreement concluded between the two sides is implemented.

Ambassador Meles described the relations of Sudan and Ethiopia as distinguished, pointing to the common cultural and historical ties between the two brotherly peoples.

 He added that the meeting stressed the importance of enhancing economic cooperation between the two countries, asserting that the outstanding issues between Ethiopia and Sudan, including borders and others, will be resolved and addressed through joint mechanisms between the two countries.
