
Addis Ababa, Feb. 4 (SUNA) – The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dafa’alla Al-Haj Ali, met on Friday evening with the Ethiopian State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mesganu Arga, in the presence of the General Director of the African Affairs Administration at the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ambassador Dafa’alla has congratulated the State Minister on his appointment and discussed developments related to the political process in Sudan and the need to lift the freeze on Sudan's activity in the African Union.
The meeting also discussed progress of the bilateral relations between Sudan and Ethiopia and the importance of strengthening them further.
On his part, the Ethiopian State Minister praised the role of the leaderships in Sudan and Ethiopia in consolidating the bilateral relations, and called for reviving the existing mechanisms for achieving the aspirations of the two peoples.
The Undersecretary also met with the representative of Tanzania to the African Peace and Security Council, Ambassador and gave a briefing about the positive developments in the political process in Sudan and the desired role of the member states of the African Peace and Security Council, as Sudan looks forward to the Council playing a positive and effective role in supporting the current stage in the country.
He called for lifting the suspension Sudan's activities in the African Union.
The meeting also discussed progress of the historical Sudanese - Tanzanian relations.
On Saturday morning, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs met the Ambassador of the Republic of Djibouti and its representative in the African Peace and Security Council, Abdi Mahmoud, and gave him a briefing on the political process in Sudan and importance of the role of the African Peace and Security Council in supporting it by taking positive measures to boost the transition.
