Khartoum, Feb. 8 (SUNA) - The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Gen. Abdul-Fattah Al-Burhan, has affirmed the commitment to the framework agreement, work with all parties, persuade those who oppose reaching a comprehensive final agreement, pave the way for a transitional government with a civilian leadership to leading the country to free and fair elections by the end of the transitional period.

This came at a meeting held in his office Wednesday with the with the European Union Special Representative for the Horn of Africa., the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for East Africa, Sudan and South Sudan, Head of the Horn of Africa Depaprtment at the German Foreign Ministry, the British Special Envoy for Sudan and South Sudan, the Norwegian Special Envoy for Sudan and South Sudan and French Special Envoy for the Horn African.

Al-Burhan has renewed the military institution’s commitment to exiting the political process and carrying out the required reforms in the security organs.

Al-Burhan has urged the international envoys to fulfill their obligations in supporting the political transition and providing urgent aid to Sudan.

For their part, the international envoys appreciated what the President of the Sovereignty Council put forward during the meeting, affirming their support for the political transition in the country.

The Special Representative of the European Union for the Horn of Africa, Ms. Annette Weber, who spoke on behalf of the delegation of international envoys, stated in a press statement that they all agree to support and encourage a comprehensive dialogue process between the Sudanese that leads to a comprehensive agreement.

She noted that the meeting of the international delegation with the President of the Sovereignty Council, his deputy and other officials aims to encourage the parties to move forward in implementing their obligations to reach a civilian-led government.

She said that they came to Sudan carrying a message of hope and a message of support for the framework agreement and the efforts of the tripartite mechanism facilitating the Sudanese dialogue, pointing out that the visit of the delegation of international envoys to Sudan comes within the framework of support to the Sudanese people and their future at the current stage.
