
Khartoum, Mar. 7 (SUNA) - The member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Dr. Al-Hadi Idris Yahya, has given directives to the Humanitarian Aid Commission and relevant government institutions to expedite the provision of the necessary needs for those affected by the fire that occurred in Dar Al-Salam locality of South Darfur state last Thursday.
During his meetin in his office in the Republican Palace today with the Commissioner-General of the Humanitarian Aid Commission, Najmuddin Musa Abdul Karim, in the presence of the representative of the Civil Defense Police and the representative of the Peace Commission, , Dr. Al-Hadi, appealed to all national and foreign organizations and the Sudanese philanthropists, inside and outside the country, to provide the necessary support for shelter materials, food commodities, and medical and health needs for those affected by the fire.
The Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid, said in a press statement that the fire destroyed five thousand homes and damaged more than two thousand families, and led to the death of five people.
He stressed that the Commission has begun to provide support and urgent intervention by inviting national and foreign organizations, international and regional partners and relevant institutions, and called for an enlightening meeting tomorrow about the effects left by the fire and ways to provide the necessary support to the affected.
