Khartoum, Mar. 15 (SUNA) - The acting Minister of Communications and Digital Transformation, Adel Hassan Mohamed Al-Hussein, signed on, Wednesday, March 15, the African Union Agreement on Cybersecurity and Personal Data Protection, known as the Malabo Agreement, representing the Government of Sudan, at the African Union building in Addis Ababa, in the presence of the deputy of the African Union Commission, the Legal Advisor of the Commission, the Director General of the Telecommunications and Mail Regulatory Organ, Sudan Ambassador to Ethiopia, and the Director of the Neighboring Countries Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Sudan's signing of the Malabo Agreement is an important step in combating and besieging cybercrime, as cybersecurity is a basic necessity in order to achieve digital transformation, spread electronic services and build a digital economy based on communication and information technology.

Sudan is due to start immediately the ratification steps so that the agreement becomes binding and implemented on the ground.
