Khartoum, Mar. 16 (SONA) - The National Commission on Human Rights in Sudan to participated in the annual meeting of the General Assembly of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) , which will be held at the United Nations Palace in Geneva.

The annual meeting, chaired by Maryam bint Abdullah Al-Attiyah, GANHRI Chairperson, discussed a number of topics and approved project proposals as well as hearing to speeches from the heads of regional networks in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America.

The participants briefed on the report of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) regarding the national institutions and heard the report of the sub-committee of the meeting as well as the report of the secretariat of the GANHRI.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Sudanese National Human Rights Commission (SNHRC), Dr. Refaat Mirghani Abbas Al-Amin, stressed hope that the commission will receive accreditation from GANHRI in the near future, a matter which requires multiple efforts and measures from the state, civil society and all stakeholders.
