Khartoum, Mar. 16 (SUNA)- Sudan participated in the 58th meeting of the Arab Higher Committee for Standardization emanating from the Arab Organization for Industrial Development, Standardization and Mining (AIDSMO) of the league of Arab states, held in Rabat on  15-16 March,2023.

Rahba Saeed Abdullah, Acting Director General of the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization, revealed that the meeting adopted more than 500 unified Arab standards and a number decisions were taken regarding to product safety, promoting trade exchange, reducing the risks caused by misuse of products, enhancing the infrastructure and quality of member states, standardizing measurement and calibration systems, inspection and testing methods and all standardization activities to achieve common Arab interests.

During the meeting, many issues on the agenda were discussed and the Arab Strategy for Standardization and quality 2020-2028 was discussed.

The meeting saw the participation of a number of relevant international organizations, most notably the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), International Electrotechnical Commission(IEC), African Organization for Standardization (ARSO), the Institute of standards and Metrology of Islamic countries (SMIIC), the African Organization for Standardization (ARSO), the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries(SMIIC), the World Association for food legislation Sciences  (WAFLS), the Gulf Standardization Organization (GSO) , the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC), the British Institute for BSI standards, the American Society for examination and materials (ASTM ).
