Khartoum, Mar. 17 (SUNA) – The member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Shams El-Din Kabbashi, returned to the country this evening, coming from Juba, the capital of the Republic of South Sudan,after a several days official visit.
General Shams El-Din Kabbashi held during his visit to Juba a number of meetings, including meeting with the President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardi,t and his two deputies separately. The meetings dealt with the efforts of IGAD, of which the Sudan presides its current session, one of the main guarantors of resolving the conflict in the Republic of South Sudan, in order to establish security, peace and stability, by following up on the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement for southern Sudan.
Gen. Kabashi who was accompanied during the visit by the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Yassin Ibrahim Yassin, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ali Al-Sadiq, has affirmed that the Government of Sudan convinced that the path to sustainable peace comes through consultation between the parties to the agreement, for which efforts are still being made to reach satisfactory solutions.
Gen. Kabashi was received at Khartoum Airport by the Secretary-General of the TSC, Lieutenant General MOhammEd Al-Ghali Ali Youssef.
